Leadership: no. 59/356 things that influence your personal brand

January 11, 2012

Forging an example for others to follow. Everywhere we go, we are trying to get others to follow our ideas and preferences. We try to get them on board. I’ve been known in the past to attempt to convince my 2 yr old son to drink green juice with me. It has never worked, but I know that through my leadership, one day he will likely follow. What an opportunity to lead others into a healthy lifestyle, avocation, or hobby through how we choose to live. When we create our personal brand signature, we are setting the tone for others to naturally follow us.

Think about what you want to lead others to do. What kind of leadership will that require on your part? How is this leadership tied to your personal brand signature? I’m heading over to Frankfurt Germany for the Heimtextil International Textile Trade Fair for the next several days. The long walks from hall to hall will be the perfect opportunity to think on this. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

    Really enjoyed finding your site!

Leading, for me, is a process of empowering the people on my team to soar together. The best leaders offer wings and nets: permission to fly and a safe place to land if you fall trying. Also leadership is a commitment to intentionally not do the things I can reproduce or mentor someone else in. It is the synergy of a vision beyond ourselves and authentic relationships that value the people around us.
